Already week 3!

Bonjour !

It's already week 3 and we're getting ready for our last week in Saint-Brieuc. Time flies...!

As I'm writing this, almost all of France is experiencing a heatwave. Fortunately, Brittany didn't get hit too bad, and we only had one day of truly high temperatures (about 35 degrees celsius on Monday). We are hoping the weather will be a bit more mild when we get to Paris a week and a half from now.

The students spent last weekend with their host families, and we saw them again on Monday for a day of classes and magazine preparation. We are aiming to send the magazine to print on Friday, so their contributions need to be ready by then.

Although Tuesday wasn't as hot as Monday, students were not too keen on exercising, so we switched to an afternoon of games of all sorts. We started with Douaniers, Contrebandiers, which we played as a group, and which had students move a bit. Then, we went into the gymnasium to set up multiple games. Océane led a game of Loup-Garous, which became instantly quite popular. Others played Uno and other card games, and they all seemed to enjoy spending some time playing rather than running around.

On Tuesday, we also had an optional bowling activity for those who wanted to. About 10 students joined and we spent an hour at the bowling alley with some host families participating as well! A few students were clearly very experienced bowlers but everyone had a fun time.

Wednesday afternoon is usually off in French primary schools, and some kids spend the afternoon in a Centre de Loisirs, which is supervised by the town. So today, we spent the afternoon in the Centre de Loisirs of Langueux, a nearby town. We ate with the kids, and then did a number of different activities (indoor and outdoor games, soccer, and even some bouncing castles and cotton candy!) that they had prepared. Although the morning was rainy and we had to have lunch inside, the afternoon was much nicer and we were glad to be able to enjoy outside activities.

On Friday, we'll be going to a reception at the town hall, and then students will spend their last full weekend with their host families! The next blog post will be on Sunday.
