Final Blog Post: Paris

 Wednesday, July 16th, 5:30pm

Bonjour,

We have just finished a busy last four days in France, students got back to Indianapolis last night, and hopefully everyone has made it home by now!

After the farewell show on Friday evening, students spent one last day with their host families on Saturday. Some of them got together to celebrate with a small party (although I did hear that at least one lasted until 3am!) and enjoy these last few hours together!

Then, we met with students and host families at 8:15am on Sunday to leave Saint-Brieuc. A few tears were shed, a few tears were shed, and plans for future visits were already made! The bus ride back to Paris went smoothly and we arrived in the capital at around 2:30pm, right after the Saumur group.

Then, after getting our rooms, we headed out for the Eiffel Tower! We took the metro line 6 to Bir Hakeim and then walked to the entrance. Students were free to visit in groups of three, and were given a time to meet back down. Some decided to go all the way to the top while other chose to stick with the first or second floor.

We then headed to the Quais for dinner near the Seine. We had pizzas, and lots of water after a long day in the heat! After dinner, we had planned a boat trip on the Seine, which is my personal favorite! We got to see Paris by night and the Eiffel Tower lit up right as we passed by it.

The following day, we split up into two groups. One would go to Notre Dame in the morning, while the other would go to Montmartre. We then met back at the Louvre for lunch (and photos), before splitting up again and switch activities.

Then, we went back to our hotel for dinner, before heading out again to see the Bastille Day fireworks. We tried to find the best spot possible, but there was a huge crowd and we only caught glimpses of it. The atmosphere was festivela and students seemed to have fun nonetheless, and we got to take one final group picture.

Then, it was an early morning on Tuesday, 15th, as we aimed for a 6am departure. Everyone was still a bit sleepy, but we made it to the airport without any issues. Océane and I then said goodbye to the group, who headed back to the US!

Thank you all for following this blog! I hope reading about the adventures of your students was fun and made their absence a little bit less worrisome. I'm sure they all have a lot of stories to tell, and more pictures to show you, and I wish you all a good rest of your summer!
