Week 2, Breton dancing, golfing

Wednesday, June 25th, 6pm

Bonjour !

We have reached the middle of week 2, and in a few days we'll already be halfway through the program... Time flies!

We started off week 2 with some Breton dancing on Monday evening. Members of the Cercle Celtique de Saint-Brieuc came over to our high school to play traditional Breton music and teach us several Breton dances! Most of the dances are quite repetitive, but easy to get the hang of, and students (and host families!) had a lot of fun dancing for a couple of hours.

On Tuesday, after classes, we played urban golf, which is an activity organized by the city of Saint-Brieuc. 9 golf "holes" (benches, lampposts, etc.) are scattered around the city and we split up in teams of 6-7 students to play the "course". The activity is very ingenuous and quite fun, but it was another hot day in Saint-Brieuc, so some groups had an ice cream break.

Finally, on Wednesday, students had classes and some time to prepare the farewell show and programme magazine. We also started practicing singing both the US and French anthems for our trip to the city hall next week. They are doing quite well so far, but we will practice every day to be ready for July 4th!

Our next excursion is on Friday, in Dinan and Saint-Malo (my personal favorite!), which is supposed to be another pretty warm day. Next blog post will be over the weekend with more photos!
